Long Island Ducks News Release


The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution3-2on Wednesday night at Suffolk County Sports Park.

The Revolution struck first off Ducks' starter Jake Dittler, as Jose Herrera's first inning single to left field scored Scott Grimes. The Ducks responded in the fourth against Revs' starter Jesus Sanchez when Robinson Cancel walked and Javier Colina launched a two-run home run over the wall in left to put Long Island in front 2-1.

The Ducks extended their lead in the seventh against York reliever Ryan Basner. Matt Cavagnaro led off the frame with a walk and came around to score when Bridger Hunt reached on an error, making the score 3-1. Yorktrimmed thedeficit to 3-2in the eighth as Grimes hit a leadoff double and came around to score on a RBI groundout by Herrera.

Dittler (7-5) earned the victory, tossing six innings, allowing just four hits and one run with four strikeouts. Sanchez (5-4) suffered the loss, allowing two runs and two hits in three innings of work. Ricardo Gomez pitched a perfect ninth to nail down his second save.

Colina paced the Ducks offensively with four hits and two RBI.

Long Island and York wrap up their series at the Duck Pond on Thursday night. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the Suffolk County Sports Park gates opening at 6:05. It is the 2nd Annual Fire Safety Day at the ballpark, with the first 1,500 fans receiving Three-Ring Binders, presented by Underwriters Laboratories. Daryl Harang gets the start for the Ducks against York's Jarod Plummer. Fans can also tune into all the action live via streaming webcast at www.liducks.com with Casey Lynn calling the play-by-play.
