Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 11, 2010) - The Winston-Salem Dash today placed starting pitcher Nevin Griffith on the seven-day disabled list and received relief pitcher Tyson Corley from AA Birmingham.
Griffith started last night's game and had his worst outing of the season, allowing six runs (three earned) in two-plus innings. In his last two starts, he has posted an ERA of 10.50 (7 ER, 6 IP) after he had 1.50 ERA in his previous four starts. Named a Carolina League All-Star yesterday, Griffith is 4-2 this season with 3.11 ERA in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery.
Corley returns to the Dash after a six-week stint with the Barons. In 15 appearances with Birmingham, the side-arming right-hander went 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA and one save. Corley did not allow a hit or a run in his last four outings with the Barons, totaling three innings. The Shawnee, Kansas native posted a 5.14 ERA and no record in five games with Winston-Salem in April before earning his promotion to AA.
Winston-Salem's roster remains at 24 players, one below the Carolina League limit.
The Dash looks to snap its season-high four-game losing streak tonight against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark.
