Three K-Tribe errors led to three unearned runs, as Myrtle Beach beat Kinston 6-0 Friday night at Historic Grainger Stadium.

The Pelicans started the scoring in the third inning off of K-Tribe starter Joey Mahalic. Mycal Jones led off with a double to left and moved to third on a grounder by Travis Jones. Then, Mike Jones capped the attack of the Jones Trio with a sacrifice fly to left to score Mycal and make it 1-0 Pelicans.

In the fourth, the Pelicans' Jesus Sucre belted a towering solo home run to left to extend the lead to 2-0. Things got sloppy for the K-Tribe defense in the fifth. Cole Miles reached on a leadoff single and Mycal Jones sent a fly ball to center field. Jordan Henry got a poor jump on the ball and had it hit off of his glove as he reached back to make the catch. After the ball dropped in for an error, Miles scored and Ronald Rivas made a wild throw to home plate for the second error on the play, which allowed Jones to come all the way in and score the fourth run for Myrtle Beach. Mahalic (1-1) surrendered five runs, two earned, in five innings for the loss. He gave up six hits, walked three and struck out five.

Myrtle Beach added a fifth run on a bases loaded walk to Cole Miles in the seventh inning. The run was charged to Brian Grening, who walked four in one inning of work. Rob Bryson then came in from the pen, walking two and striking out five in two innings of work. David Roberts finished the game for Kinston, throwing a perfect ninth. Pelicans starter Matt Crim (4-4) pitched eight scoreless innings for the win. He allowed only five hits, walked two and struck out a season-high nine. Karexon Sanchez was the only K-Tribe batter with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 on the night.

The K-Tribe returns to Historic Grainger Stadium for game three of the four game series Saturday night at 7pm. T.J. House will take the hill for Kinston. The two teams will end the series and homestand on Sunday at 2pm.
