Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

For the second straight day, rain halted play in the second inning in North Carolina. Durham and the PawSox had played an inning and a half before the skies opened up and deluged Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Starter Felix Doubront had retired Durham in order in the first, with two strikeouts, in his Triple A debut. Unlike Saturday, play resumed after a delay of an hour and 32 minutes, and the PawSox pulled out a 1-0 win.

Gustavo Molina hammered a solo home run over the 32 foot high, Blue Monster in left for the win. Pawtucket managed just two other hits. Josh Reddick singled in the first and Jorge Jimenez got a base hit in the seventh

Chad Paronto (2-2) earned the win, working 4 shutout innings. The big righty allowed just one hit. Fernando Cabrera got the save, his sixth, tossing two shutout innings. Doubront, Paronto and Cabrera combined to hold the Bulls to two hits. One was a "wall-ball" single by Dan Johnson. The other was a ninth inning single by former Pawtucket third baseman Angel Chavez. The win in the night cap snapped a 4 game PawSox losing streak. Daniel Nava returned to the lineup after missing 6 games with an oblique strain. Nava went 0-3.

The opener, a completion of Saturdays' game was all Bulls. Durham won 18-1. Dan Johnson had two homers including a grand slam and 8 rbi.

The series continues on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Kris Johnson (3-2, 5.03) faces highly regarded prospect Jeremy Hellickson (6-2, 3.24).
