TONIGHT: The Oklahoma City RedHawks open a 4-game series with the Portland Beavers (San Diego Padres), beginning OKC's longest trip of the year (12 games). After this series, the RedHawks visit Tacoma and New Orleans before opening their next homestand June 1. The RedHawks enter tonight's game off a league-wide day off yesterday and after being swept in a 4-game set by Fresno The Grizzlies shut out the RedHawks twice and out-scored them 10-3. OKC was held scoreless in 30 of 32 innings vs. Fresno. The RedHawks lead the American South by 1 game over Albuquerque. Portland is tied for third in the Pacific North, 3.5 games back of Colorado Springs. Tommy Hunter gets the start for OKC against righthander Radhames Liz.

NEW TERRITORY: The RedHawks bring a season-high 4-game losing streak into tonight's series opener. The RedHawks as few as 3 games above .500 for the first time since April 16, when a win at Memphis improved their record to 6-3. The RedHawks have dropped 8 of their last 12, scoring 2 runs or fewer in 8 of those games. Included in that stretch is a 1-0 win May 12 over Sacramento. After having the second-best record in the PCL in April (15-7) and the second-best team batting average (.290) and ERA (2.97), the RedHawks have dipped to the PCL's second-worst record in May (6-11) with the third-lowest team batting mark (.242) this month.

PACK WISELY: OKC's 12-game road trip that starts tonight is the first 3-city trip for the team since 2006, when it had a pair of them. The RedHawks' went 8-3 in a rain-shortened, 11-game jaunt through Omaha, Memphis and Nashville from June 8-16, 2006 in their last marathon road swing. They also split a 12-game trek to Salt Lake, Colorado Springs and New Orleans in May of 2006.

ERA BEST IN LEAGUE: OKC leads the PCL in team ERA at 3.24. The RedHawks have allowed the fifth-fewest hits and runs. OKC shares the league lead with 4 other teams in shutouts, 4.

KEEPING IT IN THE PARK: OKC pitching has allowed the fewest home runs in the league (21). The RedHawks have gone 5 full games, plus part of a sixth, without surrendering a homer. Sacramento's Chris Carter had the last opposition home run (off Michael Ballard) in the sixth inning of Thursday's 14-inning, 8-5 Sacramento win. OKC has pitched 49 consecutive homerless innings.

DEAD BALL ERA: The RedHawks have gone 7 full games, plus part of an eighth without hitting a home run. Their last homers came in the sixth inning on May 11 against Sacramento, when Gregorio Petit and Chris Davis homered in a 3-batter span against Mickey Storey. Despite bringing a 64-inning homerless drought into tonight, the RedHawks remain third in the league with 33 homers. OKC is 14-7 when homering in a game and 7-11 when held homerless.

BULLPEN BASHERS: OKC scored just 2 runs against Fresno's starting pitchers in the series that ended on Tuesday, collecting 18 hits in 25.2 combined innings from Matt Yourkin, Kevin Pucetas, Madison Bumgarner and Eric Hacker. Both runs OKC scored against Fresno's starters were charged to Pucetas, but they scored on a 2-run single against reliever Waldis Joaquin. The RedHawks have scored more runs against opposing teams' bullpens than starting staffs this season. Of OKC's 199 runs, 101 have been against relievers, with 98 charged to starters. OKC has collected 157 hits in 124.1 innings against the league's collective relief corps, while amassing 198 hits in 220 innings vs. starters. The RedHawks have failed to score against an opponents' bullpen 10 times in 38 games, going 1-9 in those contests.

ODDS AND ENDS: Esteban German is tops in the league with 34 runs scored, 4 more than Colorado Springs' Matt Miller...German is third in the league with 14 stolen bases...Hernan Iribarren leads the PCL with 5 sacrifice flies...Ryan Garko, who opened the season with Texas, cleared waivers on Tuesday, was outrighted to the RedHawks and activated today.
