April 26, 2010 - International League (IL1)
Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox salvaged a split of their 4 game series with Buffalo, taking the finale on Monday afternoon, 5-1. Great pitching by the trio of Kris Johnson, Robert Manuel and Joe Nelson anchored the victory. Johnson (1-1) earned his first win since June of 2009 in his first start of the year. KJ had been pitching out of the bullpen prior to Mondays' outing. Johnson allowed an unearned run on 5 hits in 5 innings. He did not allow a walk. Robert Manuel pitched three shutout innings in relief. In 12 innings of work this season, Manuel has an ERA of 0.00, no runs allowed, so far. Nelson nailed it down with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Kevin Frandsen got the offense rolling with a solo homer in the first, his second of the year. Daniel Nava also hit a round tripper, his first at Triple A. Josh Reddick, Dusty Brown and Matt Sheely accounted for the other RBI for Pawtucket. Tug Hulett had two hits. The PawSox are at 8-10 as they prepare for the arrival of the Indianapolis Indians. Game one is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. Jeremy Powell (0-3, 11.77) faces lefty Fabio Castro (0-1, 8.10). Tuesdays' game also marks the return to McCoy Stadium of former PawSox star, Brandon Moss. Moss is an outfielder for Indy.
