Things got ugly on Thursday night in Allentown as Lehigh Valley crushed the PawSox 12-3. The Iron Pigs jumped on Fabio Castro (0-1) early, scoring one in the first and three in the second. He surrendered three more in the fourth, before he was finally chased. Chad Paronto kept it close with a pair of shutout innings, then Ramon Ramirez gave up 6 runs in a marathon seventh inning. Ten men came to the plate as the Pigs broke it wide open. Lehigh banged out 18 base hits in the rout. Luis Maza had 4 hits and 3 rbi. Melvin Dorta and Chris Duffy had 3 hits apiece.
Brandon Duckworth got the win. It was his first appearance of the year. He hurled 5 shutout innings. Phillies closer, Brad Lidge (ML rehab) walked one in his shutout frame. Angel Sanchez and Matt Sheely had 2 hits each to lead the PawSox offense. The PawSox went 3-5 on the road trip.
Pawtucket returns to McCoy for a homestand that begins Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Tobi Stoner (0-1,4.32) goes for Buffalo. Michael Bowden (0-0, 4.26) pitches for the PawSox.
