BUFFALO BISONS www.Bisons.com

BISONS NOT THE ONLY ONES TO LIKE IKE: It didn't take long for former Bisons INF Ike Davis to get the call to The Big Apple. The 23-year old was promoted to the Mets on Monday after just 10 career Triple-A games. Davis did excel in his short time with Buffalo, reaching base twice in every game he played but one. The first baseman averaged .364 (12-33) with three doubles, two home runs, four RBI and a .636 slugging percentage. Davis also drew nine walks in ten games, giving him an International League-best .500 on-base percentage. Davis went 2-4 with an RBI against the Cubs on Monday night in his Major League debut.

GOSH GOLLY GEE WHAT A START!: You can't start the season much better than Bisons RHP Dillon Gee has. The 23-year old has tossed shutout baseball over his first two starts, allowing a combined five hits and striking out 12 in 13.0 innings of work. He blanked the Yankees over six innings in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 11 and shut them down over seven frames last Saturday. Gee has allowed just one extra-base hit in 2010 and has limited opponents to a .119 average. Last season, Gee missed the final 98 games of the season with a right shoulder strain. He was 1-4 with a 4.10 ERA in nine starts with the Bisons in 2009.

HARD-HITTING HESSMAN: A change in uniform this off-season has done nothing to slow down one of the International League's all-time great sluggers. INF Mike Hessman has started his career in Buffalo with a bang...or several of them. Hessman has hit .326 (14-43) in 12 games with the Bisons. He has four doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI and seven runs scored. Hessman is tied for 2nd in the IL in home runs (4), is 4th in RBI (13) and 5th in slugging percentage (.698). The slugger now has 315 career minor league home runs, 23 more than any other active player in baseball.

CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS www.CharlotteKnights.com

STRUGGLES VS DURHAM: The Knights fell hard again to the Durham Bulls yesterday, going down 6-5 in 12 innings.  The Knights have been outscored 29-8 by Durham over the last three games.  Against the Bulls the Knights are hitting .206 and have a team ERA of 7.89.  The struggles against the IL South rival are not limited to this season; since 2007 the Knights are 19-43 vs. Durham, by far their worst record against any IL opponent over that time.  The Knights were 7-14  against Durham last season, including 4-7 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

HITTING STREAK FOR KROEGER: Knights OF/1B Josh Kroeger enters tonight's game on a 10-game hitting streak after going 1-5 with a 2-run homer in yesterday's loss.  Over his last ten games Kroeger is hitting .324 (11-32) with 2 HR and 8 RBI.  The 10-game streak is the longest of the season for a Knights player.

TEXAS TEAMMATES: Following yesterday's game, the Knights placed LHP Erick Threets on the disabled list.  RHP Kyle McCulloch has been transferred to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham.  Threets was 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA (1 ER/4.0 IP).  McCulloch comes to the Knights after going 0-0 with a 2.57 ERA (2 ER/7.0 IP) with 5 K in three appearances with Birmingham.  McCulloch was the White Sox first round pick (29th overall) in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He was teammates with Knights

OF Jordan Danks at the University of Texas where they both were All-Americans.

BASEBALL IN THE SUNSHINE: The Knights played their fifth day game of the season yesterday and their second of two straight day games with Durham.  The Knights are 1-4 through five day games this season.  Two of their next five games will also be day games.

COLUMBUS CLIPPERS www.ClippersBaseball.com

INVERSE OFFENSE: Of Columbus' 14 games so far this season, six have come against the Indianapolis Indians.  In those six games, the Clipper offense has hit .315

(67-213) with 13 HR, scoring 51 runs (8.5 per game).  However, that offensive explosion has resulted in a 3-3 record against the Tribe.  In Columbus' other eight games, six against Louisville and two against Toledo, they are hitting .255 (63-247) with 2 HR and 29 runs (3.6 per game).  Columbus is a combined 6-2 against Louisville and Toledo.

DOUBLE (PLAY) TROUBLE: The Clippers hit into two more double plays yesterday and continue to lead all of Minor League Baseball with 20 GIDP.  Wes Hodges hit into his team-leading third double play of the year in yesterday's win.  Every Clipper with a plate appearance, with the exception of Michael Brantley (played in first game yesterday), has hit into at least one double play this season.

DIDN'T KNEED THAT: Carlos Santana, the #1 prospect in the Cleveland organization, was forced to leave yesterday's game against Indianapolis after fouling a ball off of his left knee.  The Clipper catcher, tied for 2nd in the IL in both HR (4) and RBI (14), is listed as day to day.  Santana also ranks 4th in slugging (.727) and 8th in batting (.364).

READY TO RUN: The addition of Michael Brantley on Tuesday gives the Clippers three players that have stolen as many as 40 bases in a season.  Brantley led the IL with 46 SB last year (career high) and Jose Constanza paced the Eastern League with 49 SB in 2009 (career high).  Trevor Crowe swiped 45 between Kinston and Akron in 2006.  Anderson Hernandez has topped 30 steals in a season twice in his career, while Brian Bixler has turned in at least 20 steals four times.  However, none of those five has as many steals as the current team leader, Jason Donald (4, set a career high with 12 in 2006).

DURHAM BULLS www.DurhamBulls.com

SCORING SPREE: Durham's 6-5 win in 12 over Charlotte at the DBAP yesterday was Durham's sixth straight win, but ended an unbelievable run of blowout victories.  In the previous five games, Durham had scored at least ten runs in four of them, and outscored the opposition 53-12.   Durham also has won the close games, taking six of eight decided by one or two runs.  The Bulls are an IL best 11-3.

GOING DEEP: Dan Johnson homered for the third straight game yesterday, and fifth in six contests.  He now has seven, which leads the International League.  Durham is tied for the overall lead in the IL in homers with 16.

RUN LIKE THE BULLS: Durham stole three bases in the first inning yesterday, and now tops the IL with 24 on the season.  Fernando Perez is tied for the IL lead with eight.  Perez was thrown out in the tenth inning.  It was the first time Durham had been caught in 25 attempts.  Durham now is 24-of-27 in stolen base attempts.

GWINNETT BRAVES www.GwinnettBraves.com

STREAKING BRAVES: The G-Braves had their season-high, three-game winning streak snapped with the 6-3 loss to Norfolk last night. I t is their first loss since dropping the last of a season-high seven straight games on 4/17. A win today, though, would give the Gwinnett Braves their first series win since they took two-of-three from Charlotte in the final series of the 2009 regular season.

KIMBREL IS LIGHTS OUT: Closer Craig Kimbrel has been lights out for Gwinnett and everywhere else he's pitched in his three-year pro career. He has yet to allow a run in his Gwinnett career, dating back to 9/2/09. He hasn't allowed a run at all since 8/23/09 with the Mississippi Braves, where he allowed just one run in his one-month stay at Double-A (12 appearances/11.2 IP). He is now 3-for-3 in save opportunities in 2010 and 31-for-32 in his career, with his only blown save coming on 7/25/08 for the Danville Braves (Rookie). Overall in 2010, Kimbrel has allowed just three hits while striking out 14 in 7.1 IP.

CLEVLEN ROCKS: Brent Clevlen currently has a season-high 6 game hitting streak. The streak is the longest for a G-Brave, eclipsing the previous high 5-game streaks of both Barbaro Canizares and Joe Thurston. He also knocked in a run, extending another season-best streak, the consecutive RBI mark, to four games.

INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS www.IndyIndians.com

POWER AND SPEED: Through 14 games this season, the Indians have belted 16 home runs, which is tied for tops in the International League. The Tribe is the only team in the IL with five players with multiple home runs this year (3B Pedro Alvarez - 4, OF Jonathan Van Every - 2, OF Brandon Moss - 2, 1B/OF Steve Pearce - 2, UTIL Neil Walker -- 2). The Indians have also been flying around the base paths as they have collected 20 steals so far this season, which is second to Durham for the best total in the IL. Indianapolis also leads the IL with nine different individuals having stolen at least one base, one player ahead of Charlotte, who has seen eight individual players swipe at least one bag. The Tribe led the IL in steals for four consecutive seasons from 2005 - 2008 (163 in '05, 180 in '06, 163 in '07 and 198 in '08) before finishing tied for eighth (98) last season.

LET'S GO STREAKING: OF Jose Tabata saw his team best 11-game hitting streak come to an end on Wednesday, however he did reach base on a fielder's choice and has now reached base in every contest in which he has played this season. During his on-base streak, the Indians' outfielder has posted five multi-hit efforts, a .302 batting average (16-for-53) and has sped his way to a team-best eight stolen bases. The 21-year-old's 11-game hitting streak to begin the season was the second longest in his career as he collected hits in 13 straight from July 5 - July 19 during which he hit .333 with four doubles and six RBI that came in 2009 while Tabata was a member of the Altoona Curve. Tabata's eight steals also put him in a first place tie with Durham's Fernando Perez for the IL's lead in stolen bases.

PEARCE CONTINUES TO POUND: Indians 1B Steve Pearce went 2-for-4 in the contest against the Columbus Clippers on Wednesday and has now hit safely in 12 of the 13 games he has played this season. The Tribe first baseman currently ranks first in the International League in doubles (8), extra-base hits (12), total bases (39), and hits (21), second in slugging percentage (.750), triples (2) and batting average (.396); and fifth in on-base percentage (.456). Pearce has also turned in a perfect defensive effort at first base in 12 games played this season. The slugger's 1.000 fielding percentage is tied for tops among all International League first basemen and Pearce's 117 putouts and involvement in 14 total double plays are also the most in the IL in each category.

THREE-PEAT: With home runs by OF Brian Myrow, OF Jose Tabata and UTIL Neil Walker in the fourth inning on April 20 against the Clippers, the Tribe belted three home runs in the same inning for the first time since Walker, INF Ryan Mulhern and OF Andrew McCutchen each connected in the eighth inning on July 20, 2008 in Columbus. The three home run inning was also the first time the Indians had three home runs in the same frame at home since OF Michael Ryan, INF Brad Eldred and INF Jose Hernandez combined for three blasts in the ninth inning against Durham on July 31, 2007. The three home run inning also accounted for the Indians highest scoring inning of the 2010 season (seven runs). Prior to the fourth inning offensive onslaught on Tuesday night, the Indians single-inning high in runs scored was five, when the Tribe put up a five-spot in the fifth inning against the Clippers on April 9.

LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS www.IronPigsBaseball.com

THE NUMBERS DON'T ADD UP: Coming into Thursday, Lehigh Valley is just 5-8 despite the following numbers...

- LHV has outscored opponents this season 64-54. The 64 runs are the third-most in the IL.

- LHV is batting a whopping .322 (37-115) with runners in scoring position (opponents are at .240).

NATE THE GREAT!: On Tuesday, RHP Nate Bump (W, 7 IP, 8 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K) became the first 'Pig with 2 wins this season while recording his second quality start -- and he could be a perfect 3-0 had the pen not blown a lead in his first start, 4/10 at Syracuse. On 4/15 vs. Rochester, the Towanda, Pa., native earned the 50th win of his Minor League career. In his IL career (7/7/09-present), the former Marlin is now an impressive 9-1, 2.15 in 13 GS (88 IP, 21 ER). Bump currently has a 9.2 scoreless innings streak and hasn't allowed an earned run in 16.2 IP.

WHO'S HOT: OF Chris Duffy has hit in 11 of 13 G this season and leads LHV with 11 RBI... OF John Mayberry has hit safely in 9 of his last 11 G (14-40, .350-1-7,

LOUISVILLE BATS www.BatsBaseball.com

NO BALONEY: In the Bats' 3-1 win over Toledo on Wednesday afternoon, LHP Matt Maloney earned his third victory of the season, placing him into a three-way tie for first place in wins in the IL. The University of Mississippi product has struck out a League-leading 22 batters and given up four runs off 15 hits in 2010. His two walks are the least of any Bats starter.

100 MPH ON THE ROAD: LHP Aroldis Chapman makes his third start of the season tonight at Indianapolis. The 22-year old free agent signee by the Cincinnati Reds is 0-1 with a 0.93 ERA in two starts this season for the Bats, including a five-inning, one-run losing effort on Thunder Over Louisville Day last Saturday against Columbus. In that contest, Chapman topped the 100 miles per hour mark on the radar gun five times, including three consecutive pitches in the fourth inning.

BATTING ANOMALY: The Bats currently have the lowest batting average (.216) in the International League, but are tied with Toledo for the League lead with six triples on the young season. C Wilkin Castillo and IF Chris Valaika each have a pair of three-baggers, while IF Juan Francisco and Louisville native OF Chris Burke have one apiece.

ROOF SHOT: IF/OF Todd Frazier picked up his first home run of 2010 with a two-run shot in the second inning last Thursday night, but will also go down in history as the first player to hit a home run off the new roof structure in right field. The roof was added this past offseason to provide shade to the three-tiered patio deck. The deck serves as the home to the new "All-You-Can-Eat" ticket, where groups of 20 or more can have a catered meal without missing any of the action.

NORFOLK TIDES www.NorfolkTides.com

COMING UP HUGHES: Tides outfielder Rhyne Hughes had his IL-best 11-game hit streak snapped last night when he grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning. Over the 11-game stretch, Hughes hit .400 (16-for-40) with two home runs, eight runs scored and 10 RBI. After playing exclusively at first base over the first five seasons of his pro career, Hughes has made 10 appearances in the outfield this year, and the 26-year-old is currently tied for 7th in the IL with a .364 average.

HIT MEN: Infielder Robert Andino has hit safely in seven of his past eight games, hitting .344 (11-for-32) with a home run, five RBI and eight runs scored. Since joining Norfolk on April 10 Andino has hit safely in nine of 12 games, and the 25-year-old is tied for 6th in the IL with 10 runs scored. Jeff Salazar has also had a hot start at the plate, as he's hit safely in nine of the 10 games he's started this season. Salazar has hit .343 (12-for-35) with two home runs and seven RBI, and he's also 2nd on the club with five walks drawn.

BABY BIRDS FLYING HIGH: Entering play today, Baltimore Orioles minor league affiliates are 31-23, which is tied for the third-best minor league record among any major league organization (St. Louis leads all of baseball with a 31-20 record). In addition to Norfolk's 5-9 record, Double-A Bowie is 10-4, Advanced-A Frederick is 8-4 and Class-A Delmarva is 8-6.

RISPY BUSINESS: In Norfolk's five victories this year, the Tides have performed extremely well in the clutch, having batted .390 (23-for-59) with runners in scoring position. However, in Norfolk's nine losses, Tides batters have hit .179 (12-for-67) with runners in scoring position. For the season, Norfolk is batting .278 (35-for-126) with RISP.

PAWTUCKET RED SOX www.PawSox.com

OLD MCDONALD HAD A BLAST: It took nearly two weeks into the season, but the PawSox sent their first two players to Boston this past Tuesday and both had an immediate impact on the Red Sox fortunes. One in particular, OF Darnell McDonald has already become a cult hero in Beantown for his exploits the past two games at Fenway Park. McDonald, the 31 year-old veteran of 1,338 minor league games with such former IL teams as Rochester, Ottawa, Buffalo, Durham, Columbus, Rochester (again), and Louisville - along with 68 games at the big league level with Baltimore, Minnesota, and Cincinnati - was hitting .341 in 10 games for the PawSox this season with 2 HR & 8 RBI. He made his Boston debut late in Tuesday night's game vs. Texas. Pinch-hitting in the bottom of the 8th-inning with the Red Sox trailing, 6-4, Darnell promptly drilled a 2-run HR to tie the game. Then in the 9th-inning he delivered the game-winning walk-off hit off the Green Monster to cap his dramatic debut. After that terrific first impression, McDonald started in CF for the Red Sox on Wednesday night and after throwing out a runner at home-plate, he delivered again with a solo HR in a game the Red Sox eventually won in 12-innings, 8-7. McDonald, and former PawSox teammate outfielder Josh Reddick, replaced a pair of injured Boston outfielders as Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron were placed on the Sox disabled list. Reddick also appeared in Tuesday night's come-from-behind victory over the Rangers as he contributed a clutch 2-run double to help ignite the Red Sox rally.

PAW-PRINTS: Boston Red Sox RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka made what appears to be his final rehab start for the PawSox on Wednesday night as he beat Lehigh Valley, 8-4 to improve to 2-0, 1.62 in his 3 starts while on rehab (neck strain). Dice-K worked 16.2 innings with Pawtucket and allowed just 1 walk with 13 strikeouts as he seems poised to rejoin the Red Sox rotation for his next turn...... Lefty reliever Alan Embree, a member of Boston's 2004 World Series Champions, signed with the Red Sox during the latter stages of spring training. He started the season with the PawSox and had an opt-out clause in his contract that could have made him a free agent on April 15 if he were not in Boston. The 40 year-old, 15-year major league veteran, decided to stay with the PawSox (and the Red Sox organization) beyond that date and thus far has pitched in 6 games with the PawSox posting 5 scoreless appearances among those outings...... The PawSox will host the Buffalo Bisons for a 4-game, wrap-around weekend series beginning this Friday night at McCoy Stadium. It will mark the return of Pawtucket's best hitter from the past two seasons as 1B/OF/DH Chris Carter will oppose the PawSox as a member of the Bisons. Carter, who was sent to the Mets at the end of last season as the player to be named later when the Red Sox acquired reliever Billy Wagner, stung the PawSox in his first game against his former mates by going 4-for-4 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored in Buffalo's 8-2 victory in their home-opener on April 14.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS www.RedWingsBaseball.com

CLEAN ME UP: The Red Wings clean-up hitters have struggled so far this season batting just .157 (8-for-51) with one double and three RBI.  The Wings clean-up hitters are hitting just .069 (2-for-29) with one RBI and nine runners left in scoring position the last seven games.  Last season the Red Wings clean-up hitters batted .276 with

23 home runs and 87 RBI.

SIXTH INNING FIREWORKS: The Red Wings offense has really flourished in the sixth inning so far this season, outscoring opponents 21-7.  Those 21 runs account for 40% of the runs the Wings have scored this season.  Rochester has scored nine runs in the sixth innings the last three games.

START YOUR ENGINES: The Red Wings have struggled at the beginning of games this season, being outscored 31-17 in the first four innings.  Rochester's opponents have scored first in eight of their first 13 games with Rochester coming back to win three of them (3-5 record).

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE YANKEES www.SWBYankees.com

THE ELUSIVE FIRST WIN: Yankees starters are winless through the first 13 games of the season with another no decision on Wednesday night at Syracuse in the opening game of the Yankees two game series. Through 13 games with the starters on the hill, the Yankees have scored a total of 21 runs. Wednesday's starter Kei Igawa was a spot starter for the Yankees and was limited to 61 pitches over 3.1 innings. On five different occasions this season a SWB starter has left without getting a single run of support. Yankees starters are 0-3 with a 4.23 ERA (31 ER in 66.0 IP) this season, while the relievers are 7-3 with a 4.00 ERA (24 ER in 54.0 IP) with five saves.

HOME OF THE NUMBER ONE PICKS: With the addition of RHP John Van Benschoten, a former number one pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2001, the current Yankees roster has three first round selections from different organizations. Outfielder Greg Golson is a former first round pick of the Phillies in 2004, and RHP Dustin Moseley was a supplemental first round selection of the Cincinnati Reds in 2000.

NUNEZ EN FUEGO: Eduardo Nunez leads the Yankees with a .380 average through the first 13 games of the season and has been tearing it up on the club's current road trip. The middle infielder picked up a three-hit game in the series finale at Buffalo on Tuesday and added another multi-hit game to his resume with two hits in the series opener at Syracuse.   Nunez has hit safely in six straight games going 12-for-24 to post a .500 average, with five runs, four RBI, and five stolen bases..

IF WE WIN IT'S A TIGHT GAME: Out of the seven wins the Yankees have on the season, Wednesday night's 8-2 victory over Syracuse has been the most comfortable.  After getting out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, SWB stayed at least two runs up on the Chiefs until scoring the final four runs to break open a 4-2 game.  The other six wins for the Yankees in 2010 have been nail biters with five of the seven wins being one-run victories. SWB is 5-2 in one-run games and along with Lehigh Valley trails only Syracuse, who has played eight one-run games this season. The only win that Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has picked up that was not a one-run victory was Monday afternoon in Buffalo where the Yankees took a 2-1 lead into the ninth before scoring five in the top of the inning to pick up a 7-2 win.

SYRACUSE CHIEFS www.SyracuseChiefs.com

WIRE TO WIRE: The Chiefs opened the season on a three-game win streak and have not looked back. Syracuse stands in first place in the IL North Division and has done so for the entirety of the 2010 season thus far. Last season, the Chiefs spent 76 days in second place but never cracked the lead position after Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 11-0 start.

OUT LIKE A LION: Chiefs infielder Chase Lambin cracked three more hits in his four at-bats in Wednesday night's game with the Yankees. Through Wednesday's action, the 30-year-old infielder is hitting .412 to lead both the International League and the Washington farm system. Lambin is the owner of the only four-hit game for the Chiefs in 2010. That came on April 13 against Buffalo.

WALKING MEN: The Chiefs enter Thursday's action having drawn 64 walks in 2010, the most in the International League and in Triple-A Baseball. Syracuse stands seventh overall in Minor League Baseball in free passes this season. The Chiefs are 23 behind first-place Kane County (87). Four of the Chiefs' 12 active position players have walked more than or as much as they've struck out. That includes outfielder Kevin Mench, who has taken seven bases on balls and has yet to strike out.

HAPPY RETURNS: As part of the 50th season of community ownership for the franchise, the Chiefs will welcome back radio broadcasters from the previous half-century. The first former Syracuse announcer to call a 2010 game will be Sean McDonough of ESPN. McDonough will call Friday night's game with the Voice of the Chiefs, Jason Benetti, and his assistant Mike Couzens. The broadcast can be heard on the web at sportsradio620.com.

TOLEDO MUD HENS www.MudHens.com

AUTOMATIC: Closer Jay Sborz has been superb so far this season. In 6.1 innings pitched, Sborz has given up just three hits and has struck out eight, walking one. He has converted all five save opportunities and leads the International League. Sborz's ERA is unblemished at 0.00.

ROOKIE SENSATION: Brennan Boesch, playing in his first season of Triple-A ball, has been a huge asset in the first two weeks of the season. Boesch leads the IL in RBI with 15. He has also been hit by four pitches, most in the IL. In 14 games, Boesch is batting .352 and has five extra base hits.

SERIES OF SUCCESS: In the Mud Hens two-game series with Louisville April 20-21, Casper Wells delivered at the plate and in the field. In the first game, Wells was 3-3 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored. Wells robbed Louisville's Juan Francisco of a two-run homer in the second game. In all, Wells was 4-7 in the series.

GOING GA-GA OVER GALARRAGA: In three starts on the young season, Armando Galarraga is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA. Against Louisville on April 20, he threw no-hit ball for 5.1 innings. Galarraga has struck out 18 batters in 18.1 innings pitched. He has walked just one batter, good for a WHIP of 0.71, fourth-best in the IL. His 18 strikeouts are tied for seventh. If he continues his string of success, Galarraga could find himself back in Detroit with the Tigers, where he spent all of last season.
