South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (37-17-6-6) closed a three-in-three home weekend with a 2-1 loss to the Florida Everblades (34-21-4-5) in front of 3,892 Sunday afternoon. Stingrays forward Gregg Johnson netted the only goal and goaltender Shane Connelly made 21 saves on 23 shots in the loss.
Everblades forward Shea Guthrie broke open the scoring at 9:05 of the second period from forwards Milan Gajic and Dominic Osman. The Everblades grabbed a two-goal lead on the power play at 15:15 from forward Mike Bayrack beating Connelly under the left arm with a slap shot from between the circles. Forwards Kevin Baker and Gajic recorded assists on Bayrack's seventh goal of the season.
Johnson cut the lead in half on the power play at 13:12 of the third period knocking in a loose puck under the blocker of Everblades goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu for his 18 tally of the season. Defenseman Jason Fredricks and forward Trent Campbell earned assists. Beckford-Tseu stopped 15 shots in the third period and made 29 saves overall to preserve the win. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-5 on the power play while Florida went 1-for-1.
