Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (30-26-7, 67 Points) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (32-25-5, 69 Points) 6-3 in front of 4,585 fans Sunday afternoon at the Orleans Arena.
Adam Miller recorded a hat trick and two assists, Craig Switzer scored twice and Chris Neiszner tied with Tyler Mosienko as the most prolific goal-scorer in Wranglers history. Jimmy Spratt stopped 28 of 31 Bakersfield shots for his fourth straight victory and fourth straight win over Bakersfield. In the first period the Wranglers struck first as Chris Neiszner poked a loose puck past Bakersfield goalie Timo Pielmeier for the 1-0 lead at the 4:09 mark. With the goal, Chris Neiszner tied Tyler Mosienko for most goals scored as a Wrangler with 58. Stephane Goulet tied up the game for Bakersfield at the 8:53 mark when his wrist shot from the left point eluded Wranglers netminder Jimmy Spratt. Less than four minutes later, and with the Wranglers on the power play, Alex Bourret threaded a pass from behind the net to defenseman Craig Switzer who fired home the one-timer for a 2-1 Wranglers lead heading into the intermission. Adam Miller also assisted on the goal, with the assist Miller tied the franchise record for most consecutive games with a point (11 games), set by Chris Kenady during the Wranglers inaugural season.
In the second period the Wranglers stretched their lead to 3-1. As a Wranglers power play expired, Mick Lawrence found Adam Miller on the left wing who beat Timo Pielmeier for the goal at the 12:56 mark. Bakersfield struck back on the power play just over two minutes later with a goal credited to Eric Regan. The two teams skated to the locker room with the Wranglers leading 3-2 but facing a 5-on-3 penalty kill for 1:20 to start the 3rd period.
The Wranglers successfully killed off Bakersfield's 5-on-3 power play, but midway through the period, Andrew Ianeiro found Mark Voakes in front of the net and Voakes beat Spratt to tie the game. Just under three minutes later the Wranglers regained the lead as Alex Bourret threaded a cross-ice pass from behind the net to a charging Craig Switzer who beat Timo Pielmeier for the Wranglers second power play goal of the night. Less than three minutes after that, Adam Miller notched his 28th goal of the season off a feed from Mick Lawrence. Miller provided the final margin of victory as his empty net goal closed the scoring and gave him the hat trick.
