Florida Everblades News Release
Charleston, SC - For the second straight night the Florida Everblades knocked off the South Carolina Stingrays 2-1, but this time the 'Blades didn't need extra time to do it. Mike Bayrack's power-play goal was the difference as Florida skated to their sixth victory in 11 tries over the defending ECHL champs.
In the second period, Shea put the Everblades on the scoreboard first with his 15th goal of the season. Guthrie picked up a rebound off a wrap around shot from Milan Gajic to put Florida up by one. The Everblades came back to take a two-goal lead at the 15:15 mark of the period as Mike Bayrack fired a puck from the left circle past Shane Connelly and into the Stingrays net. Florida held South Carolina scoreless in two chances on the power play in the period while converting their only opportunity of the game. The 'Blades defense held South Carolina to just 14 shots through 40-minutes of play.
The Stingrays made the game interesting in the third period scoring on the power play at the 13:12 mark. Gregg Johnson fired in a rebound to give the Stingrays their first goal of the contest. Trent Campbell and Jason Fredricks registered assists on the tally. South Carolina would fight down the stretch but get no closer with the final 2-1 in Florida's favor.
