AHL Announces Front-Office Additions
December 30, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that Nathan Costa has been named Manager of Team Business Services and Melissa Caruso has been named Coordinator of Team Business Services for the AHL.
Costa and Caruso are responsible for assisting AHL Vice President of Team Business Services Todd Frederickson with the management of the league's Team Business Services program. Launched during the 2007-08 season, the program provides quantitative and qualitative best-practices support to all AHL member clubs, focusing on ticket sales and corporate partnerships, data collection, analysis and league-wide reporting.
Costa came to the league office from the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, where he served as an account executive for three-plus seasons. He played an instrumental role in the Rampage's overall ticket sales growth, and in the 2008-09 season the team was recognized for the largest increase in group sales in the Western Conference. The Springfield, Mass., native graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in journalism.
A native of Newton, Mass., Caruso is a 2009 graduate of Springfield College with a major in sport management and a minor in business administration. She completed an internship with the American Hockey League during the spring of 2009.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the eighth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2008-09.
