Utah Flash News Release

Orem, UT- Dec. 11, 2009- The Utah Flash started the game off Friday night in front of a sold out crowd of 6,515 people providing a very exciting game. Utah took the lead late in the fourth quarter but weren't able to hold off the Reno Bighorns as Reno ran away with the win 107-103.

"We pride ourselves in winning the hustle plays and finishing out plays," said Head Coach Brad Jones. "We weren't able to do that tonight, they were the ones who got the hustle plays in the fourth quarter, and they were the more aggressive team."

The game started off with all five Flash starters scoring and taking an early 10-3 lead against the Reno Bighorns. Dontell Jefferson went 3-3 from the field in the quarter while he and Orien Greene scored six points a piece to lead the Flash. The Bighorns were led by Desmon Farmer's 10 points on 3-4 shooting from behind the arc. Rod Benson added nine points for the Bighorns who led the first quarter by two points with the score 28-26.

The second quarter had 10 different lead changes and was led by Flash guards Andre Ingram, 11 points, and Jefferson's eight points. Both teams shot better then 50 percent from the field in the half as the Bighorns went into the locker room up four points with the halftime score 58-54.

The Flash started the second half looking to take over the game five minutes into the quarter and went on a 16-4 run capped off by a monstrous dunk by former Utah Valley University star Jordan Brady. The 70-62 lead by the Flash was the biggest of the game. Russell Robinson and Farmer then sparked an enormous run for the Bighorns as they led at the end of the third with the score 76-85. The 23-6 run in the last seven minutes of the third quarter gave a big momentum swing to the Bighorns. Robinson knocked down three 3-pointers in the quarter.

The fourth quarter turned into a nail-biter as the Flash made a 10-0 run with about two minutes left in the game and took the lead 101-99 after back to back 3's and a Jordan Brady three point play. The Flash couldn't hold onto the lead late and take advantage of an energetic crowd as the Bighorns knocked down eight free throws to end the game and seal the victory 103-107.

The Bighorns were led by Farmer's 33 points, four 3-pointers and 13 made free throws. Reno's Robinson also knocked down four 3's and added 26 points. The Flash were led by Dontell Jefferson and his 30 points. Andre Ingram added 23 points and Carlos Wheeler had a quiet but very effective night with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.
