
BayHawks Drop Home Opener

ERIE - The Erie BayHawks (2-3) were out gunned by the Maine Red Claws (4-1) 116 - 90 dropping their home opener at the Tullio Arena before a crowd of 5150.
The Red Claws shot a blistering 59% (16 of 27) from outside the three-point arc, while the BayHawks managed just 16% (1 of 6) from three-point range. Red Claws guard Billy Thomas led all scorers with 26 points, including six threes. Bill Walker, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, added 19 points, completing a double-double with 11 rebounds and Tony Bobbitt chipped in five threes and 17 points.
Jackie Manuel led all BayHawks scorers with 19 and rookie guard Cedric Jackson contributed 9 points and nine assists. BayHawk veterans Ivan Harris and Jarvis Gunter each notched 14 points, while the team's leading scorer going into the game, Donell Taylor struggled hitting just three field goals of 18 attempts.
The BayHawks and the Red Claws will square off again, Wednesday, December 16, in a 7 PM tipoff at the Tullio Arena. The game will be the Bayhawks first Smith's Hot Dogs One Buck Wednesday featuring one dollar Smith hot dogs, beer, popcorn and pop. The first 1000 fans will receive a BayHawks magnet schedule courtesy of Marquette Savings Bank.
