
San Jose Sharks Recall Forwards Benn Ferriero And Steven Zalewski, And Defenseman Joe Callahan

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forwards Benn Ferriero and Steven Zalewski, and defenseman Joe Callahan from the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Ferriero has played in 20 games with San Jose this season, posting two goals and three assists. He has also played in five games for Worcester posting one goal and two assists.
The five-foot ten, 185-pound native of Boston, Massachusetts was signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 1, 2009.
Zalewski ranks second in scoring for Worcester, posting 15 points (7-815). He has played in two games for San Jose, making his NHL debut on Oct. 12 vs. Phoenix.
The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound native of Utica, NY native was originally selected by San Jose in the fifth round (153rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Callahan, 27, ranks second in scoring among Worcester defensemen with seven points (1-67) in 20 games, along with 12 penalty minutes.
Callahan, made his NHL debut in 2008-09 appearing in 18 games with the New York Islanders posting two assists (0-22) and four penalty minutes. He made his Sharks debut on Nov. 5 at Detroit, assisting on Logan Couture's goal.
The six-foot-three, 220-pound native of Brockton, Massachusetts was originally selected by Phoenix in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft (3rd round, 70th overall) following three seasons with Yale University (ECAC).
