Hurricanes Recall Zach Boychuk From Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Zach Boychuk from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Boychuk will be eligible to make his NHL-season debut when the Hurricanes host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday at the RBC Center.

Boychuk, 20, is in his first full professional season and has scored four goals and earned five assists (9 points) in 12 games with the River Rats. The Airdrie, Alb., native made his NHL debut with Carolina in 2008-09, skating in two games in October before returning to his junior club, the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League. Carolina drafted Boychuk (5'10", 185 lbs.) in the first round, 14th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Carolina Hurricanes return to the RBC Center on Friday, Nov. 6, to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network) in the front half of a back-to-back set that will conclude Saturday in Columbus.
