Spokane Chiefs News Release

Two goals by Kyle Beach and a three point nights from Levko Koper and Tyler Johnson gave the Spokane Chiefs a 3-1 win over the Chilliwack Bruins on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. Mitch Wahl scored his third goal of the season and also added an assist as Spokane won for the third time in four games.

By scoring five goals, all fans in attendance received a coupon for a free Chalupa from Taco Bell.

Despite Spokane outshooting Chilliwack 15-6 in the first period it was the Bruins who scored first 13-seconds after Kevin Sundher came out of the penalty box at 12:35. Sundher pounced on a rebound in an odd man rush to give Chilliwack their only goal of the game.

Beach scored at 19:45 of the period, from Koper and Wahl, to even the game after one. At the beginning of the second with Spokane skating on the man advantage he would score again just 18-seconds into the frame for the eventual game winner. It was Spokane's only power play goal in four chances. Johnson scored with just a minute left in the period to give Spokane a two goal lead going into the third.

Koper and Wahl finished the scoring at 10:43 and 16:57 respectively.

In total, the Chiefs outshot Chilliwack 42-25 and were 3-3 on the penalty kill.

Spokane upped their record to 8-6-1-0 and 17 points, three points behind Everett in third place in the U.S. Division. The Silvertips were 3-2 losers to Lethbridge tonight. Vancouver shutout Portland 4-0 while Tri-City was idle.

Spokane will play two games this weekend, on the road in Seattle on Friday at 7:30 and at home on Saturday against Vancouver on Buck Night and Red Out presented by Coca-Cola. Mike Boyle will go on the air a half-an-hour before each game with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
