Wolves Add Sipotz and Buckley to Training Camp

The Chicago Wolves have signed defensemen BRENDAN BUCKLEY and BRIAN SIPOTZ (SIHP-ihts) to Professional Tryout Contracts (PTO).

BUCKLEY racked up eight assists, nine points and 92 penalty minutes in 67 games with the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks last season, and notched three points (G, 2A) and 18 penalty minutes in 10 Calder Cup playoff matchups during Worcester's run to the Atlantic Division Final.

Overall, the 32-year-old blueliner has tallied 78 assists, 93 points and 818 penalty minutes in 568 career AHL contests spanning nine seasons (1999-2007, 2008-09) with Cincinnati, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Syracuse, Peoria, Manchester and Worcester. He has also appeared in 64 Calder Cup playoff games, registering eight points (G, 7A) and 84 penalty minutes, which includes collecting two assists in 21 games en route to the 2001 Calder Cup Finals with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

SIPOTZ has spent the past five seasons as a member of the Wolves, which includes skating in 66 games for the club last season, compiling seven points (2G, 5A) and 36 penalty minutes.

Overall, the 28-year-old defenseman recorded nine goals, 37 assists, 46 points and 166 penalty minutes in 325 career American Hockey League outings with Chicago from 2004 to 2009. The 6-foot-7-inch, 248-pound defenseman also racked up six assists and seven points in 47 career postseason matchups with the Wolves, which includes a trip to the Finals in 2005 and a Calder Cup championship in 2008.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

SIPOTZ and BUCKLEY will hit the ice this morning when Chicago opens training camp at the Hoffman Estates Park District Community Center and Ice Arena.
