Blades Kick Off with Banner Raising Night
September 18, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades open the 2009-10 regular season tonight at Credit Union Centre against the Regina Pats. Doors open at 5:30 pm.
The 2008-09 East Division banner will be raised to the Credit Union Centre rafters in a ceremony prior to puck drop. The banner will be the first the Blades raise since the 1993-94 banner went up at then-Saskatchewan Place.
The Blades will also debut the all-new Reebok EDGE Uniform System tonight. The recently unveiled Blades uniforms feature modified striping on the sleeves and collar, in addition to a more prominent use of the secondary silver and air force blue. The principal component in the change, of course, is the upgraded durability and ventilation provided by the materials put together for the Reebok EDGE Uniform System.
Fans will want to arrive early as the first 4000 patrons in the building will receive a special Saskatoon Blades/Co-op team poster. Following the game fans will be able to have the posters signed by the Blades in an autograph session on the Credit Union Centre concourse.
Adam Morrison will get the call between the pipes for the Blades tonight, while defensemen Teigan Zahn and Stefan Elliott are expected to be in the lineup after returning earlier this week from NHL camps.
Tickets for tonight's game are available online at ticketmaster.ca, by calling 938-7800, or by visiting any Ticketmaster location.
