
Canes ready for "Ice" Breaker

Lethbridge, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes are kicking off their 2009-10 season on road tonight (Friday, September 18th) as they take on the Kootenay Ice. Last season, the Hurricanes spilt their season series with the Ice posting a 3-3-0-0 record. This included a sweep of their home and home series on what was the Canes opening weekend. The Canes had a 1-2-0-0 record against the Ice in Cranbrook (Sept.21/08 (1-0W); Nov.14/08 (4-2L); Mar.14/09 (4-1L)) last season and a 2-1-0-0 record in the friendly confines of the ENMAX Centre. (Sept.19/08 (4-3SOW); Dec.27/08 (6-1L); Mar.13/09 (4-1W)) All time, Lethbridge has a 43-45-6-1-0 record against Kootenay and a 4-1 playoff series win in the second round of the 2008 WHL Playoffs - their only playoff meeting.
The Canes will follow up tonight's game with a trip down Highway 3 to take on their old rivals - the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night in the Gas City. Due to renovations to the City of Lethbridge ENMAX Centre; the canes will not host any games during the 08-09 preseason and will not hold their home opener until an October 9th matchup against Edmonton Oil Kings.
