D.C. United website earns 2009 WebAward
September 15, 2009 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - D.C. United News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 15, 2009) - The Web Marketing Association today awarded dcunited.com a 2009 Outstanding Website WebAward. D.C. United launched the site in March 2009. Available in both English and Spanish, dcunited.com provides fans with official team news, videos, photos, ticket offers and schedule information. The site also aggregates articles from fan blogs and mainstream media, and allows fans share photos or join a supporters club. One of the Internet's premiere honors, the WebAwards is an international competition designed to judge corporate websites against an industry standard, and against peer sites within their industry.
A communications initiative internally managed by United's digital media department, dcunited.com was designed by NavigationArts to promote the organization, engage an avid fan base, and generate ticket and merchandise sales. The visual design replicates the exciting experience of attending a game at RFK Stadium. The structural design is sleek, removing clutter so that users quickly understand the organization of the platform.
