Sea Dogs Surpass 400,000 Fans in 2009

Portland, Maine- Despite the economy and the wettest summer in Portland's history, the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, attracted over 400,000 fans to Hadlock Field in 2009. It is the ninth time in the Sea Dogs history that the 400,000 fan mark has been reached.

With Monday's crowd of 6,140, the Sea Dogs conclude the season drawing 404,707 fans over 66 openings, an average of 6,132 fans per game. The Sea Dogs finish second in attendance in the Eastern League behind the Reading Phillies.

The Portland Sea Dogs sold out Hadlock Field 16 times in 2009. Rain forced the postponement of five games at Hadlock Field in 2009.

Over the 16 year history of the Sea Dogs more than six million fans have enjoyed Portland Sea Dogs baseball. The Portland Sea Dogs thank the fans for their support throughout the 2009 season and the entire 16 year history of the franchise.

The Portland Sea Dogs are scheduled to open the 2010 season on the road, Opening Day at Hadlock Field will be on April 15th. Tickets for the 2010 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 7th at 9:00 AM at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office.
