Rock Cats 2009 Season Attendance Notes

September 7, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

While there is more baseball to be played in New Britain this year - the Rock Cats concluded their 2009 Regular Season this afternoon at New Britain Stadium with a 4-1 victory over Trenton in front of a sun-warmed crowd of 5,117.

Today's gathering enabled the New Britain franchise to post its best Total Season Attendance mark ever: 366,682. This figure eclipses the Eastern League club's previous best-ever Total Season Attendance of 365,756, set just last year (2008).

Rock Cats fans turned out in record Per Game numbers this year as well. New Britain had 66 Openings in 2009 and attracted a Per Game Average crowd of 5,556. This too is a new franchise high; the previous mark in this category was set in 2007, when a Per Game Average Attendance of 5,341 was recorded.

Thanks to their highly supportive fan base, the Rock Cats have been able to increase their annual attendance figures in one category or another for 10 consecutive seasons.

The Rock Cats will open the 2009 Eastern League Playoffs on Wednesday night (9/9) when they visit the CT Defenders at Dodd Stadium for Game 1 of the EL's Northern Division Championship Series. Games 1 and 2 will be played at 6:35 PM in Norwich before the action switches back to New Britain Stadium on Friday and Saturday nights for Games 3 and 4. Game 5, if necessary, will be played back at Dodd next Sunday.
