WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Football Club signed import quarterback Darrell Hackney and import defensive back Jonathan Hefney today. The Blue Bombers have also extended the contract of Fred Perry today.

As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed.

Hackney (6-0, 235, Alabama-Birmingham '06, DOB: Aug. 7, 1983 in Atlanta, GA) holds several UAB records including passing yards (9,886 yards), touchdowns (71 touchdowns), completions (694 completions) and most total offence per game (243.4 yards per game).

He signed with the Cleveland Browns after going undrafted in 2006. He most recently spent time with the Denver Broncos.

"Hackney is a big, athletic player, who will bring a level of experience here and add to the competition in camp," said head coach Mike Kelly.

Hefney (5-9, 190, Tennessee '08, DOB: Feb. 27, 1985 in Rock Hill, SC) was a four-year starter at either cornerback or safety during his time at Tennessee, starting every game except for the 2004 season opener against UNLV.

"He was very impressive in our Florida mini camp, and I'd like to see more of the skills he displayed there in our training camp," said head coach Mike Kelly.

Perry (6-1, 240, Southern Arkansas '98, DOB: Jan. 5, 1975 in Fort Smith, AR) was acquired in a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos on May 15, 2009.

Over his career, Perry has accumulated 57 quarterback sacks and 345 defensive tackles. He's played in 96 career regular season games, eight career playoff games, and won the Grey Cup with Saskatchewan in 2007.
