Peoria Chiefs News Release

PEORIA, IL- The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that infielder and utility man David Macias has been promoted to Triple-A Iowa. Macias leaves the Chiefs in the midst of their four-game set in Beloit and joins the Iowa Cubs for the second time this season, following a three-game stint in Triple-A from May 4-6 where he was hitless in six at-bats.

Macias, a 19th round pick in 2008, hit .291 with six RBIs in 20 games with the Chiefs. The 23 year-old smacked two doubles and recorded back-to-back two-RBI games in a April 23 doubleheader at Wisconsin. Residing from The Woodlands, Texas, Macias spent all of 2008 with Boise where he hit .228 with nine doubles and 16 RBIs in 54 games. The 5'9, 175 pounder played his college at Vanderbilt with fellow Chiefs infielder Ryan Flaherty.

Peoria and Beloit continue their four-game set Monday. The Chiefs will send RHP Marcus Hatley (2-1, 5.04) to the mound opposite RHP Bobby Lanigan (4-1, 4.62) for the Snappers. First pitch is slated for 6:30 PM.
