Kernels win second in a row over Bees, 3-2

The Cedar Rapids Kernels won their second game in a row over the Burlington Bees, 3-2, at Community Field in Burlington on Monday night. Kernels starter Ryan Chaffee (2-1) allowed an unearned run and just two hits while walking two and striking out eight for the win. The Kernel bullpen of Chris Armstrong, Jeremy Thorne, Andrew Taylor and Mike Kohn allowed a run and struck out six over four innings of relief with Kohn earning his second save.

Anel De Los Santos led the Kernels as he was 2 for 4 with a HR and Dwayne Bailey was 2 for 2 with a run scored. Alexi Amarista and Tyson Auer added an RBI and Beau Brooks and Gabe Jacobo each had a double.

Nick Francis and David Wood combined for four of Burlington's six hits. Justin Garcia (1-2) took the loss in relief of starter Mike Lehmann, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five over 3.2 innings.
