TOP NOTES OF THE WEEK

1. The Royals 4-2 loss to Trenton last Friday extended the Royals losing streak to three consecutive games-all against the Devils-marking the sixth time this season that Reading has lost three (or more) straight games.. With respect to the Devils, the Royals have lost five consecutive times, dating back to a 6-5 overtime win at Sov- ereign Bank Arena on February 7, 2009. The Royals have compiled a 3-8-2 record against the Devils (1-5-0 at home) with one more to be played in Reading on April 3 .

2. Saturday's shootout loss in Wheeling marked the ninth time this season that the Royals have ended regulation time in a tie-eight of those have come on the road. Reading is 4-5 in ties this year (1-2 in overtime; 3-3 in the shootout). Reading's shooters were blanked in the shootout on Saturday in Wheeling (by goaltender David Brown), dropping the team's SO scoring percentage to 25.8% (8-31). The team record for SO % for the Royals was set in 2007-08: 36.7%; the team low is 28.0% (01-02).

3. Beau Erickson became the thirty-fifth goaltender to play a game for the Royals in the eight year history of the team when he stopped 45 of the 49 shots he faced in the sixty-five minutes of hockey (and two of four in the shootout) in his pro debut in Wheeling on Saturday night. The 49 shots faced by Erickson are the third most against the Royals this year. (James Reimer faced 51 against Florida on December 6; and Danny Taylor saw 50 from Trenton on November 15). With respect to the shoot- out, Reading goalies this year have allowed 10 SOGA in 32 shots faced (.688 save %). The team records in this regard are: Best .764 (2006-07); Worst.593 (2004-05)

4. The Royals snapped the team's four game winless streak (0-3-1) with the 5-4 win in Wheeling on Sunday, which was the first win of the season for the Royals at Wes- Banco Arena in Wheeling (1-3-1). Overall, Reading finished the season series with a winning record against the Nailers (5-4-1).

5. Tyler Doig is currently riding four game point (4g-3a=7pts) and three game goal (4g) streaks for the Royals. Doig, who leads the Royals with 35 assists and 51 points, has registered a team-high 16 multi-point games this year. His two-goal game on Saturday marked his third multi-goal game of the year. Doig's game winner on Sunday was his second GWG of the year for Reading. He has picked up seventeen points (6g-11a) in his last fourteen games.

6. Ben Gordon is also riding four game point (2g-4a=6pts) and a three game assist (4a) streaks for Reading. Gordon, who has racked up at least one point in five of the six games he's played for Reading, has registered thirty-seven points (12g-25a) in his last twenty-eight games. Gordon is currently 13th in rookie scoring in the ECHL (17g- 30a=47pts), and he is playing to a cumulative plus-16 (+16) through 57 total games (and a plus three with the Royals).

7. Dan Rudisuela is currently riding a 3 game point (and assist) streak (1g-3a=4pts). Rudisuela, who opened Saturday's shootout loss in Wheeling with a power play goal 4:28 into the game, leads the Royals with seven power play goals and four 'first goals' this year. In his last twenty-three games, Rudisuela has racked up twenty-eight points (12g-16a). Rudisuela, who leads the Royals with 176 shots through 66 games, has registered twelve multi-point games over the season and nine of those have come in the last twenty-three games.

8. Vince Rocco, who scored on his first shot as a pro three minutes into his professional debut, racked up a pair of multi-point games in his first three played for the Roy- als (2g-2a=4pts). Rocco scored a goal picked up an assist, had five shots on goal and played to a plus-1 (+1) in Sunday's 5-4 win in Wheeling.

9. .Chris Stevens bagged a pair of assists in Saturday's SOL in Wheeling to register his fourteenth multi-point game in forty-two played for the Royals this year. In his last twenty-nine games with Reading, Stevens has racked up thirty-one points (14g-17a)

10. In Sunday's 5-4 win in Wheeling, the Royals power play was held off the board (0-4), marking the twenty-eighth time this year that Reading's PP has been blanked. During the past week, Reading's power play scored twice in twelve opportunities with the man advantage; and over the past 18 games the Royals have gone 11 for 87 on the power play, which is a 12.6% scoring ratio. Over the course of the season, the Royals are 55 for 354 on the PP, which translates into a 15.8% scoring ratio (14th).

11. The Royals allowed at least one power play goal against in all three games played this week and were hit up for three PPGA in Sunday's 5-4 win over Wheeling. That marked the .eighth time this year that Reading's PK has allowed three goals against in a single game. (Reading has held the opposition's power play off the board thirteen times this year.) Overall, the Royals PK has allowed 82 PPGA in 371 chances for the opposition with the man advantage, a 77.9% kill ratio, which is last in the league.

CLOSING NOTES

1. Ben McLeod scored the Royals' third goal (1:28 into the third period) and played to a plus-3 (+3) in Sunday's win in Wheeling. In the six games that he has played for the Royals, McLeod is playing to a plus-7 (+7).

2. Dinos Stamoulis scored the game tying goal (at four) 11:33 into the third pe- riod in Sunday's win. Stamoulis, who played to a plus-3 (+3) in Sunday's game, leads the Royals on the active roster with 99 penalty minutes.

3. Defenseman Tom Sawatske scored his first goal as a Royal in his fifth game played for the team on Saturday night. Sawatske also picked up an assist in that game to register his first multi-point performance of the season (in 60 totals games played).

4. Michael Ouzas registered his ninth win as a Royal (in twenty-four games played) by stopping 38 of the 42 shots he faced in Sunday's win over Wheeling. Ouzas compiled a 4-1-0 record against the Nailers this year.

5. Reading scored the first goal in all three games played this week. Over the course of the season, the Royals have registered the FG in 26 of the 66 that have been played and have compiled a record of 12-10-4 in those games.

6.. The Royals held a two-goal lead as the team entered the third period in Sat- urday's 5-4 shootout loss in Wheeling. Reading has gone into the third period with a lead fifteen times this year and has compiled a record of 13-0-2 in those games

7. Reading trailed 3-2 entering into Sunday's 5-4 win in Wheeling. That was the forty-first time this season that the Royals have entered the third period trailing the opposition-and the third time that the team has come away with the two points. The team has compiled a record of 3-35-3 in those games.
