Abbotsford Heat News Release
The Flames cashed in on three of five power-play chances on Friday to earn a 5-3 win over Peoria. Quad City tied a franchise record for power-play goals in a game while Jamie Lundmark tied a franchise best for points in a game with four (a power-play goal and three assists). Quad City also received power-play goals from Kyle Greentree and Brad Cole whiel Cam Cunning and Brad Brown contributed even strength goals.
Nikolay Lemtyugov staked the Rivermen to a 1-0 lead at 2:20 of the first period when he fired a shot past Flames netminder Leland Irving from the left wing circle. Quad City responded four minutes later when Cam Cunning snuck a puck into the Peoria net on a shot from along the goal line. Cunning accepted a feed from center Jamie Lundmark and managed to thread the needle to find the back of the Peoria net and tie the game at two. Kyle Greentree gave the Flames the lead less than two minutes later when he scored during a 5-on-3 power play. Greentree recorded the tally after receiving a cross-ice pass from Ryan Wilson. Lundmark drew the secondary assist on the goal. Peoria's Chris Conner capped the scoring for the first period when he converted a 2-on-1 break following a feed from Steve Regier.
The Flames took the lead on the strength of three goals in the middle period. Brad Brown opened the second period scoring with an even strength goal just 3:52 into the frame. Brown, in his Quad City debut, powered home a blast from the top of the right wing circle to put the Flames back in front. Quad City extended their lead five minutes later when Jamie Lundmark tipped home a Ryan Wilson pass during a Quad City power play. The Flames added another power-play marker with 5:01 left in the second period when Brad Cole scored on a blast from the high slot. Lundmark earned the primary assist on the goal to tie a Flames franchise record for points in a game with four.
The Rivermen netted the only goal of the third period when Charles Linglet scored his first goal of the year at 5:52 of the closing frame.
