JAMESTOWN, NY - The State College Spikes defeated the Jamestown Jammers, 5-3, in game two of the doubleheader Tuesday night to earn the split at Russell Diethrick Park. The Spikes fell to the Jammers in game one, 7-6.

The Spikes (14-49) took the lead early in the nightcap, scoring two runs in the first inning. Ciro Rosero scored the first run of the second game on a David Rubinstein triple to right field. Rubinstein then scored on a wild pitch to Chase d'Arnaud, giving the Spikes a two-run cushion.

The Jammers (40-24) tied it up with a run in the first and second innings, tying the game as both teams remained scoreless for the next two innings. The Spikes regained the lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on three hits.

The three run lead was all the Spikes needed to insure a win in the second game of the night against the Jammers. Jamestown rallied in the seventh inning, scoring a run off Jorge Charry (0-1) on a Ben Lasater home run to left field, but Charry earned the three outs needed to walk away with the win. Charry allowed one run in three innings on four hits.

Jamestown's Brad Hand (0-1) walked away with the loss after pitching 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. Hand struck out four and walked four as well.

The Spikes return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to take on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) on Thursday, August 28th. Tickets are available by calling 877-99-SPIKES, online at www.statecollegespikes.com or in person at the Box Office at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
