SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Sioux Falls pounded out 11 hits and Tim Hutting had 5 RBI's for the Birds blowing past Sioux City 7-1 and putting the X's on the brink of elmination in the best of 5 series at the BirdCage on Tuesday night.

The X's scored first with a RBI grounder by Alex Llanos scoring Dustin Jones in the first inning off of Canaries starter Ryan Ford but Sioux Falls would finally get to X's starter Alexander Francisco in the 3rd, sending 9 men to the plate, scoring 4 times, including a 2 run double by Hutting.

Hutting had a RBI single in the 6th and blew it open with a 2 run single in the 8th to give the Canaries all the runs they would need.

The X's had back-to-back leadoff men reach base in the 4th, 5th, and 7th innings but got nothing to show for it. Ford went 7 2/3 innings, scattering 8 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2. Alexander Francisco struggled for the Explorers, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, walking 4 and striking out 3. Walter Young, Juan Senreiso, and Chad Gabriel each had 2 hits apiece for Sioux City but the X's went 0-6 with runners in scoring position and are 0-12 in the series.

So the X's will have to win 3 in a row at Lewis & Clark Park to keep their championship hopes alive in 2008. Paige Dumont will get the start for the Explorers while Travis Kane will go for the Birds. Game time is 7:05 on Thursday night, playoff tickets still available by calling 277-WINS.
