D.C. United waives midfielder Jeremy Barlow

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 11, 2008) - D.C. United announced today the club has waived Jeremy Barlow. The midfielder originally signed a developmental contract on March 20 after the club acquired his rights from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for the a natural third round selection in the 2009 MLS Supplemental Draft. Barlow departs D.C. without having seen first team action, playing in eight reserve games (five starts) and tallying one goal.
"We want to thank Jeremy for being part of D.C. United, and we wish him the best of luck in the future," said United Gerneral Manager, Dave Kasper.
Barlow was originally selected by the Dynamo in the fourth round (56th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, before being traded to United. A product of the D.C. United youth system and Reston FC, Barlow starred for four seasons at the University of Virginia. The 22-year-old totaled seven goals and an assist in his freshman year before being named the 2004 ACC Tournament MVP and to the all-ACC freshman team. He added two goals and nine assists during his sophomore campaign and two goals and two assists in his junior year before finishing his collegiate career with a goal and six assists last fall.
