Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - Fans who attended last night's historic game at Wrigley Field between the Kane County Cougars and Peoria Chiefs will have a chance to pick up where last night left off. Due to the rain-shortened game between both teams Tuesday evening, fans were unable to run the bases at Wrigley Field. While the completion of last night's game will be resumed in Peoria tonight, the Cougars are offering ticketholders from last night's game an opportunity to exchange their tickets and receive reserved or lawn seat tickets for this Sunday's August 3 game at Elfstrom Stadium, home of the Cougars in Geneva. Game time is at 2 p.m. that afternoon and all fans will be allowed to run the bases following the game, regardless of age.
The place where running the bases originated in Chicago, the Cougars' tradition of fan involvement on the field has given nearly 8 million fans an opportunity to set foot on the same turf that has produced former Kane County players such as Ryan Dempster, Miguel Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez. Following each Cougars home game, all fans are allowed to run the bases and take a lap around the field that has been creating memories for minor league fans since 1991.
"Running the bases is such an important Cougars tradition that includes all fans, both young and old," Cougars General Manager Jeff Sedivy said. "Last night's unfortunate rainstorm at Wrigley Field did not give a record-size crowd an opportunity to run the bases and we'd like to extend an invitation for all fans to run the bases and enjoy a Cougars game this Sunday."
This Sunday's 2 p.m. contest between the Cougars and the West Michigan Whitecaps will include a pre-game autograph session with Cougars players as well as the organization's popular Jimmy Buffett Theme Day that includes a free post-game concert by Od Tapo Imi.
Fans who are interested in exchanging their tickets from last night for this Sunday must bring their tickets from last night's game to the Kane County Cougars ticket office, which is located at 34W002 Cherry Lane in Geneva, just south of the intersection of Kirk Road and Rt. 38. The Cougars are also encouraging fans to exchange their tickets sooner rather than later for best seating availability. The Cougars box office is open from 9-6 p.m. each day this week. No exchanges will be accepted over the phone or online. Fans may contact the Cougars ticket office with inquiries, however at (630) 232-8811.
