
Bees Lose Game and Series to Kane County

Geneva, IL (Jul 3, 2008) - The Burlington Bees lost 7-2 at Kane County Thursday night. With the loss, the Cougars have taken the first three games of the four-game series, which gives them a series victory.
The Bees allowed a first-inning run for the fifth game in a row. Down 1-0, the Bees tied the game up in top of the second inning. With one out and nobody on base, David Lough hit his fifth homerun of the season to tie the game.
Kane County took the lead once again scoring a run in the bottom of the third inning. The score stayed 2-1 until the sixth inning when Kane County scored two more runs to take a 4-1 lead. In the top of the seventh, the Bees loaded the bases but could not score a run. Kane County put the game away scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-1 lead.
The Bees did score one run in the top of the ninth inning. Jason Taylor led the inning off with a double, moved to third on a David Lough single before scoring a Clint Robinson ground-out.
Danny Duffy got the start for the Bees and took the loss to move to 4-4 on the season. He allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on four hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Burke Baldwin pitched 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Bees had eight hits in the contest. Lough and Jamar Walton each had two. Johnny Giavotella went 1-4 and extended his hitting streak to nine games.
The Bees and Kane County conclude the series Friday evening. Alex Caldera is the scheduled starter. First pitch is set for 6:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return home to Community Field on Saturday to begin a three-game series with Clinton.
