Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
FISHKILL, N.Y. (July 1, 2008) -The Hudson Valley Renegades are excited to announce that âBorn in The USA' night will be a life changing night for one lucky fan. The Renegades will be starting one fan on the process of becoming a U.S. citizen Tuesday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Becoming a U.S. citizen is a lengthy and expensive process and starting Tuesday night one lucky fan will start the seven-month process of officially becoming a U.S. citizen.
Four pre-selected fans will compete in several on-field contests throughout the game, earning points for their performance in each event. At the end of the night the points will be totaled with the overall points winner having his or her naturalization process paid for by the Hudson Valley Renegades.
"We're really excited about this," Renegades General Manager Eben Yager said. "We're talking about potentially improving someone's life forever in just one night. That's what we're all about here. I was born in Canada and when I turned 18, I had to go through the process of becoming a U.S. Citizen and now I'd like to be a part of helping someone else become a citizen of the greatest country in the world."
Tuesday's âBorn in the USA' theme will be more than just another day at the ballpark. Tuesday night the Renegades will do something that has never been done before by starting one fan on the process of becoming a U.S. citizen. What goes better than baseball, fireworks and America? Nothing...that is why the Renegades are going to complete the trio for one deserving fan.
In addition to the contest for citizenship, fans will be entertained by various all-American characters including a Bruce Springsteen look-alike, Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty.
âBorn in The U.S.A.' night will be the biggest night at Dutchess Stadium this year as we will celebrate everything American and help one fan became part of this great country. Following the game fans can celebrate the 4th of July a couple of days early as the Renegades will be putting on another one of their unbelievable fireworks shows.
