Ben Harrison named Texas League Player of the Week

Frisco, TX - Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Ben Harrison has been named the Texas League Player of the Week for June 16- June 22, 2008 announced by the Texas League on Monday, June 22.

Harrison hit .500 (14-for-28) with two doubles, three home runs, and five RBI, leading the ‘Riders to a 6-1 record for the week. During a four game series in Midland June 16-19, Harrison hit .667 (10-15) with three home runs and five RBI.

On the season, Harrison is hitting .321 with 13 home runs and 45 RBI. Harrison ranks among the league leaders in several categories including average (7th), home runs (T-5th), RBI (11th), and OBP (.408 - 5th). He was also selected as a starting outfielder for the South Division in the 2008 Texas League All-Star Game in Springfield this Wednesday.

The ‘Riders (49-27 - 1st place in Texas League South) remained the best team in Double-A baseball with a 15-7 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros) Monday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Thomas Diamond (2-1) tossed a season-high six innings allowing just two runs on four hits while walking just one. Offensively, Elvis Andrus went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI in the contest. The RoughRiders are currently riding a season-best six game win streak and have won 13 of their last 16 contests.
