DURHAM, NC - The American Association's official statistician, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Shreveport Sports OF Terrence McClain and Sioux Falls Canaries RHP Travis Kane as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

McClain has only been with the Sports a short period of time but has done extremely well. In the four games he has played, the outfielder from Hermitage, TN has batted .500 (7-for-14) with two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored. He has also slugged 1.000 to go along with an on-base percentage of .632.

The 28-year-old McClain is currently in his fourth season of professional baseball, all in the independent leagues. He split time with Evansville of the Frontier League and Fullerton of the Golden League in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, he was with Edmonton of the Northern League.

Kane becomes the fourth Sioux Falls player to be a Player of the Week recipient (Patrick Reilly, Pat Mahomes, Kris Regas) in the 2008 season. In the 3-1 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs Friday night, Kane hurled 7 2/3 innings allowing no earned runs on only three hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. On the season, the 24-year-old is 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA. Kane currently ranks second in ERA in the American Association.

The righthander is now in his second year of professional baseball. He pitched with Bradenton of the South Coast League last season going 7-2 with earned run average of 2.79.
