Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Sno-cones are not just for kids anymore, as the River Bandits have opened a brand new stand featuring sno-cones enhanced with vodka that comes in 11 different fruity flavors.
"We made a commitment to upgrading our concessions menu when we took over this team, and this is another element of that process," owner Dave Heller said. "Our fans can come to the ballpark and have a wide variety of high-quality options, more than just staple ballpark foods like hot dogs and nachos."
The new stand will celebrate its grand opening by offering half-price sno-cones on Friday. The 11 flavors of vodka to choose from are raspberry, watermelon, vanilla, lime, strawberry, black cherry, green apple, orange, cranberry, citrus, and blueberry. If fans want more than one flavor, they will be able to mix and match their favorite flavors to make the sno-cone of their dreams.
"Kids aren't the only ones that like sno-cones," Vice President/General Manager Kirk Goodman said. "After intensive testing and experimentation, we think re-introducing this classic ballpark treat with a new twist will be a hit with the adult audience."
The sno-cone stand opens on Thursday night and is the newest concession option for fans following an off-season of upgrades to the food and beverage menu at Modern Woodmen Park. Quad Cities began the year with four brand new concession themes to ensure there is something for everybody. The menu includes Bandit Burgers and Bandit Dogs at the Angus Grill, Mexican cuisine such as tacos and burritos at Rio Bandito, pasta, wine, and Domino's pizza from the Domino's on Brady Street at Paisano's, and salads, wraps, deli sandwiches and fruit kabobs available at the Genesis Healthy Heart Stand.
The Barbeque Pit has since opened with the addition of the Jumer's Casino Rock Island Hot Tub Deck, and helps complete the hot tub experience by offering fans food straight off the grill. The pit is also available to fans at the Tiki Bar. Coming soon to Modern Woodmen Park is the addition of the German-themed Bier Stube Alpine Haus, a ballpark version of the popular Bier Stube Bar & Grill that already has two Quad Cities locations.
UP NEXT: The River Bandits are in the midst of an Eastern Iowa showdown at Modern Woodmen Park, hosting the Burlington Bees through Saturday. Game two of the series will be Soap Opera Night on a Thirst-Day Thursday, featuring half-price draft beer, wine, margaritas, and fountain Pepsi products, courtesy of the Quad Cities' CW and Rock 104.9 FM. Get a blast from the past on Friday with â80s Night and stay late for a KWQC Fireworks Friday. Lastly, the homestand will conclude with a Salute to the Cowbell and a Cowbell Giveaway to the first 1,500 fans thanks to Kemp's Ice Cream and Rock 104.9 FM, while "The Warmth" will take the stage live for a post-game concert on a Miller Light and WQAD Newschannel 8 Rockin' Saturday. Bandit Wear featuring the new team name and logo is currently available by visiting the Modern Woodmen Park team store, and season ticket packages, mini-packages, and the popular You-Pick-10 Plan are on sale at the park or by calling (563) 3-BANDITS!
