Altoona Curve News Release

AKRON, OH - Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jack Wilson will suit up for the Altoona Curve for the remainder of their series with the Akron Aeros at Canal Park as he continues to rehab a left calf injury. Wilson is in the lineup at shortstop and batting second for the Curve in tonight's game. He will likely play seven to eight innings tonight and should go all nine innings Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for his return to the Pirates.

Wilson was placed on the big-league disabled list April 6th with the calf injury. It is Wilson's first career trip to the DL. He made an early exit from Pittsburgh's game against Atlanta April 3rd, and was hitting .083 (1-12) on the young season. The 30-year-old is coming off a brief rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis, where he batted .333 (4-12) with a double and two RBI in four games.

The Aeros are home tonight at 7:05 p.m., continuing a four-game series with the Curve. Wednesday's first pitch is also at 7:05 p.m. and Thursday is another Roadway Education Day at Canal Park with a 10:35 a.m. start. Kevin Dixon (1-3, 5.26 ERA) will get the start tonight for Akron against Altoona's Jimmy Barthmaier (2-2, 5.35 ERA). It is Two-for-Tuesday at Canal Park with two-for-one specials on tickets and select concessions. The game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
