Frederick Keys News Release

On a chilly windy night in Salem, the night wasn't the only thing that was cold. Frederick could not get untracked against Salem starter Polin Trinidad as the Keys mustered only three hits in a 7-0 series opening loss.

With the defeat Frederick is now 2-2 on their roadtrip. It has been feast or famine offensively as the Keys have scored 19 runs in their two wins and have been shutout in each of their losses.

The lone bright spot for Frederick was SS Ryan McCarthy who went 2-for-3 for his fourth multi-hit game in five played in the Orioles organization. McCarthy was the lone Key to reach scoring position on the evening.

Keys starter Brandon Erbe struggled allowing six runs in five innings to fall to 3-3 on the season. Salem's starter Trinidad was the losing pitcher the last time Frederick was in Salem, Game Four of the Mills Cup Championship series. That Keys win gave them their third Mills Cup Championship in franchise history.

The series continues Tuesday, May 13th at 7:07 p.m. at Lewis Gale Medical Center Field in Salem, VA. The Keys return home to face Lynchburg on Friday, May 16th with Fireworks following the 7:00 p.m. ballgame.
