Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
WOODBRIDGE, VA - The Pelicans scheduled series opener against the Potomac Nationals on Monday night has been postponed due to heavy rains throughout the day on Sunday and Monday morning, rendering the field at Pfitzner Stadium unplayable. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning ballgames tentatively scheduled for Tuesday night at 5:30 PM.
Monday's scheduled starter RHP Deunte Heath (4-1, 2.14) will start game one for the Pelicans against RHP Jhonny Nunez (0-4, 6.16) for Potomac. Myrtle Beach has yet to name a starter for game two, but the P-Nats will send RHP Terrance Engles (0-2, 10.80) in the nightcap.
The postponement is the first for the Pelicans, who had been the only team in the Carolina League to not have a game postponed this season. The series will feature the two division leaders in the Carolina League, with the Pelicans (22-13) currently leading the Southern Division by 6 ½ games, and the P-Nats showing the way in the North with a two-game lead.
Notification will be sent should the scheduled start time for Tuesday's doubleheader change.
