
Kernels stymied by Hume as Rattlers win, 7-1

The Cedar Rapids Kernels were held to a run on just two hits by Wisconsin starter Donnie Hume as the Timber Rattlers took the first of a four game series, 7-1, at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton on Friday.
Hume (4-0) gave up a solo home run to Anel De Los Santos in the third inning and a double to Andrew Romine in the first inning and that was all the hits the Kernels could muster. Hume struck out seven and walked none over six innings. Phillippe Aumont pitched three innings and struck out five to notch his second save.
Michael Davitt (1-2) made a spot start for the Kernels and allowed five runs on three hits, walked five and struck out five over three innings. Brian Chambers pitched two innings and struck out two and Eddie McKiernan went two innings, allowing a run on two hits with a walk and strikeout. Esmerlin Jimenez gave up a run and a hit, walked one and struck out one in the inning he pitched.
