Lexington Legends News Release
APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY) -- The Greenville Drive shut down the Lexington Legends offense one night after the Legends reached their highest run total in almost two years. Starting pitcher Chris Province surrendered one run on three hits in five innings and the Drive knocked home seven runs to defeat the Legends seven to one.
Josh Reddick led the Drive with three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Che-Hsuan Lin added a two-run home run and an RBI double, and Anthony Rizzo drove in two.
The Drive started off the scoring in the second inning when Reddick walked. Reddick stole second, advanced to third on a groundout from Manny Arambarris and scored on a single from Rizzo.
Kristopher Negron led off the third inning with a triple down the right field line for Greenville. Lin drove Negron in with a double to right. Legends right fielder Russell Dixon appeared to have a bead on the ball but lost it at the last second, allowing the ball to drop at his feet on the warning track. David Marks lined out to left and Yamaico Navarro grounded out to the pitcher. Reddick then knocked Lin home with a double off the right-center field wall.
The Drive continued their scoring in the fourth when Arambarris led off the inning with a walk, and Rizzo drove him home with a double off the center field wall. Legends manager Gregg Langbehn replaced starter Jacob Leondhardt after he struck out Ty Weeden with reliever Fernando Abad. Abad induced a fly out to center from Negron and went ahead of Lin with two quick strikes before Lin launched a home run into the left field bleachers.
The Legends got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning when Max Sapp led off the inning with a single to left field. He advanced to second on a wild pitch from Province. Legends first baseman Eric Taylor singled to left, advancing Sapp to third. Sapp then scored on Jonathan Fixler's sacrifice fly to right.
Legends starter Jacob Leonhardt surrendered five runs on five hits in three and a third innings. Fernando Abad and Jay Pacella finished off the game for the Legends, giving up two more Drive runs. Russell Dixon paced the Legends offense with three hits.
The Legends fell to 2-5 on the season and 1-2 on the home-stand. The Legends close out the series against Greenville Thursday night. The Legends will start Carlos Ladeuth against the Drive's Nick Hagadone.
