Jacket's Lose, Split Series with Power

Charleston, WV - The GreenJackets (3-5) dropped the final game of a four game series to the West Virginia Power (3-5) Thursday night with a 10-3 loss and a series split. Starter Oliver Odle suffered the loss allowing five runs over four innings while Garrett Baker and Andrew Davis drove in the three runs for the GreenJackets.

West Virginia trailed 2-1 entering the second inning but plated two runs on back-to-back RBI singles from Curt Rindal and Scott Houin for a 3-2 lead.

The Power went on to score two more runs in the third inning on an RBI single from John Alonso and an RBI ground out from Caleb Gindl to open a 5-2 lead.

Odle (0-1) allowed all five runs, three earned, on eight hits while walking two.

Augusta took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a one-out, two-run double from Baker. Nick Noonan and Thomas Neal had back-to-back singles to set up Baker.

The Power got single runs in the fifth and sixth inning off Augusta reliever Andrew De La Garza. West Virginia then added three runs in the seventh on a three run homer from Steffan Wilson off reliever Dan Runzler.

In the top of the ninth Davis connected for a two-out RBI single scoring Angel Villalona for Augusta's final run of the game.

The GreenJackets open a four game series against the Legends Friday night in Lexington. Augusta will send right-hander Waldis Joaquin (0-0, 2.70) to the hill. The Legends counter with lefty Sergio Severino (1-0, 0.00). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

Thomas Neal extended his hit streak to eight games with a single in the first inning.

The GreenJackets bullpen had not allowed a single run in the series (15 innings) before the Power plated a run off of De La Garza in the fifth inning.

Charlie Culberson was thrown out of the game in the eighth inning for tossing his helmet after being thrown out at first.

Power starter Evan Anundsen retired 10 straight after Baker's two-run double in the first inning.

Augusta pitching allowed a season high 10 runs and 12 hits.
