Greenville Drive News Release
Lexington, KY - During his brief professional career, Nick Hagadone has virtually been impossible to plate a run against. The Lexington Legends experienced that first hand Thursday night, as the southpaw allowed just two singles over five scoreless innings in the Drive's 5-2 victory.
Hagadone (1-0), who ended the 2007 season by tossing a Lowell Spinners record 23 straight scoreless innings, began the outing by retiring the first eight batters he faced, including four of his career-high seven strikeouts.
With Hagadone cruising on the mound, the Drive offense picked up where it left off last night. Josh Reddick tallied his first of three hits with a two-out, run-scoring single in the bottom of the first.
Mike Jones and Ty Weeden added solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, off of Lexington starter Chad Ladeuth (0-2) before the Drive added a pair of runs off reliever Reid Kelly in the sixth. Anthony Rizzo delivered his second hit of the game with a clutch two-out, two-run double.
The Legends were finally able to get on the board as they plated two runs off reliever Jordan Craft, who lasted just 2/3 of an inning. Matt Cusick (3-for-4) and Craig Corrado (2-for-4) not only accounted for all five of Lexington's hits, but scored both of the team's runs.
Ryan Colvin closed out the game with 3 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save of the season. The right-hander allowed just a single and a walk while fanning three.
The Drive now head to West Virginia for a four-game series with the Power before returning home to Fluor Field at the West End on Tuesday, April 15th. Jackie Robinson Day, presented by Michelin, kicks off the Drive's second home stand of the season as they host the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
