Nolan Returns To River Rats From NHL

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Brandon Nolan has been return to Albany after his second stint of the season with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. The River Rats also announced that they released left wing Yannick Tifu from his professional tryout agreement.

Nolan, 24, returns to the River Rats from his second call-up with the Hurricanes. He was recalled by Carolina on January 3rd, where he appeared in two games for Carolina against the Atlanta Thrashers on January 4th and the St. Louis Blues on January 5th, averaging 4:02 of ice time. Nolan has now played in four games for the Hurricanes this season, with one assist, two shots on goal and an even plus/minus rating. The St. Catharine's, Ontario native has played 31 games for Albany this year and is currently tied for the team lead in goals (13) and is third on the team in points (26).

Tifu, 23, was called up by the River Rats on December 18th, appearing in nine games in his first career stint in the AHL. Tifu scored five points (2 goals, 3 assists) and a +2 rating during his time with Albany. The Brossard, Quebec native was leading the ECHL in scoring at the time of his call up to Albany, he has 42 points (8 goals, 34 assists) in 25 games played for Dayton.

The River Rats begin a busy four-game week with a road trip to face the Manchester Monarchs Wednesday night at 7:05 pm at Verizon Arena. Albany's next home game comes on Saturday, January 12th against the Worcester Sharks at the Times Union Center.
