TRYING TO CAPTILIZE AT HOME: The Sea Dogs continue their 6-game homestand, entertaining the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night at Hadlock Field...Portland was swept by Altoona in a three-game series to start the first leg of their homestand...Last week, the Sea Dogs swept the Senators in a three-game series, outscoring Harrisburg 34-9.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Altoona Curve scored six runs in the final three innings to complete a three-game sweep of the Sea Dogs, 10-7 on Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Beau Vaughan (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing six walks and three runs in just one inning of work. Chris Hernandez (5-1) earned his second win of the series, hurling two scoreless innings and fanning two. Altoona tied the game at six when pinch-hitter Brett Roneberg walked with the bases loaded. In the eighth, Jason Delaney knocked in the goahead run with an RBI single off Mike James. Neil Walker provided the knock out punch with a 2-run single in the ninth inning. Portland built a 6-4 lead through four inning on 3 RBI by Bubba Bell. Bell smacked his fourth home run of the season with two outs in the first inning off Dewon Brazelton. Iggy Suarez had two hits for the âDogs and Zach Borowiak knocked in his 27th run.
NOT HOMESICK - SICK OF HOME: With yesterday's loss, the Sea Dogs have dropped a season high six straight games at Hadlock Field...This stretch marks the longest losing streak at home in over two years...Twice this year Portland has lost four straight games at home...Portland was swept for the third time at Hadlock Field with yesterday's setback.
THE 100 CLUB: Bubba Bell picked up his 100th RBI of the season between Portland and Lancaster with his fourth inning RBI single...Bell joins Chris Jones of Frisco (102) and Steven Pearce of Indianapolis (103) who leads all of Minor League baseball in RBI...Bell leads all minor league players with 152 hits and 114 runs scored...The Texas native is second in total bass with 265, Craig Brazell of Omaha leads all minor league players with 273.
WELCOME TO PORTLAND: Infielder Aaron Bates was promoted earlier today from High- A Lancaster...To make room on the roster, Infielder Chad Spann was placed on the disabled list (right knee)...Bates leads the California League with 24 home runs and ranks fourth in the league in average at .332.
