Albany Devils News Release

The Lowell Devils are proud to announce that right wing David Clarkson has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Lowell community during the 2006-07 season.

Upon his arrival in Lowell, David Clarkson made it clear that he wanted to be involved with the community. He has taken it up! on himself to reach out to children in the Lowell area, through youth hockey and local YMCA locations, as well as children's hospitals and pediatric wards. His attitude is one of caring and concern and he possesses a feeling of responsibility as a visible member of the community to reach out to others.

In recognition of his efforts, Clarkson will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Devils home game.

Clarkson is now one of 27 finalists for the AHL's 2006-07 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced later this month.

The Devils travel to Manchester on Friday and return home to host the Bruins again on Saturday, April 7th at 7:05 p.m. Only two home games remain for the regular season for the Devils, who also host the Portland Pirates on April 13th. All Devils games can be heard live on WCAP 980 AM with the Voice of the Devils, Ryan Johnston. Tickets start at just $10; call the Devils office at (978) 458-PUCK for more information or visit www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
