Jessiman Named Wolf Pack's 2006-07 Man of the Year

Hartford, April 3, 2007: The Hartford Wolf Pack are proud to announce that right wing Hugh Jessiman has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Hartford community during the 2006-07 season.
Jessiman, who is on the Wolf Pack roster for his second year in the AHL, approached the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation at the beginning of the season, looking for opportunities to volunteer his time and expand upon the community service activities he had taken part in last season. The right wing began volunteering his time by enlisting the help of a different teammate to accompany him on bi-weekly visits to the patients at CT Children's Medical Center (CCMC). He never missed a beat---organizing bags of Wolf Pack "goodies" to take with him and coordinating with CCMC's Child Life Care Specialists to go floor-to-floor and visit with any patients that were able to receive visitors. Jessiman always stayed until he had met with everyone seeking a visit. In addition to volunteering his time in this capacity, Jessiman also took part in the staple Wolf Pack Community Foundation team functions and fundraisers, such as the "Golf for Kids" event and Booster Club-sponsored events.
In recognition of his efforts, Jessiman will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Wolf Pack home game.
Jessiman is now one of 27 finalists for the AHL's 2006-07 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced later this month.
