Washington, D.C. (July 24, 2006) - United for D.C., the non-profit arm of D.C. United, has again this summer pledged money to assist in making a DC SCORES summer program become a reality. The foundation granted $12,500 to enable 50 underprivileged youth in southeast D.C. (Ward 8) to attend a seven-week camp help at Stanton Elementary. The full-day program, which concludes next week, runs Monday - Friday with various events ranging from soccer activities to creative writing initiatives and field trips throughout the city. United for D.C. contributed $25,000 last summer to help begin the Ward 8 locale.

"United for D.C. saw great things occur through the DC SCORES camp last summer," said Stephen Zack, Sr. Vice President of D.C. United and President of the United for D.C. Board of Directors. "Given another opportunity to assist this great program, we were anxious to partner with DC SCORES once again."

Participants in the camp will, this week, engage in a special project. The group tomorrow will create models of a new soccer stadium for D.C. United with people from Clark Construction. Following discussion of the project, the Clark Construction team will lead the group on a tour of the baseball stadium currently under development in Washington, D.C.
