Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON, TX- (Monday, July 24, 2006) -The Houston Dynamo was able to extend its unbeaten streak to 10 games this past weekend, picking up a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution.
The tie keeps Houston in a commanding lead of 2nd place in the Western Conference with 31 points. FC Dallas still leads, with 35 points.
Even though he first half produced many opportunities, the game did not see its first goal until the 60th minute, as a quick New England pass inside the box turned into a Houston own goal. But before the Revolution had time to celebrate, Stuart Holden, who was making his home debut, equalized the game with a shot from the top of the box. The goal was Holden's first career MLS goal coming from Alejandro Moreno's 4th assist of the season.
Despite being down a man after Wade Barrett was shown his second yellow of the match in the 72nd minute, the Dynamo were able to earn the split decision. Houston's next home game is this Saturday, July 29, against the New York Red Bulls.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Houston Dynamo (8-3-7) will travel north to take on the Colorado Rapids (7-6-4) in what will be a battle between the Western Conference's 2nd and 3rd place teams. The two teams have already met twice this season, with Houston winning both games. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (CT) at Invesco Field at Mile High.
WELL DE'SERVED
